Teaghen Rieder made a career-high 10 saves while senior
Tori McArthur totaled two defensive saves as the McDaniel College field hockey team fell at No. 4 Johns Hopkins Wednesday, 10-0.
The Green Terror (2-5, 0-1 CC) had four defensive saves as a team, the most since the team also had four against No. 10 Johns Hopkins at home on Oct. 16, 2019. In that game, Madison Downey and Emily Farrell each had two defensive saves.
Meanwhile, Reider posted a new career high in saves for the second-straight game after she had nine against Lebanon Valley on Sept. 18.
The Blue Jays (6-2, 1-0 CC) took the early lead when Emily Amsden scored the first of her three goals just 1:06 into the contest off an assist from Lila Slattery. Amsden scored again just over seven minutes later to put the home team in front 2-0 after one.
Amsden completed the hat-trick midway through the second quarter to put the nation's fourth-ranked team in front 4-0 before the five-time defending Centennial Conference champions took a five-goal lead into halftime.
Reider totaled four of her saves in the first half while McArthur added one of her defensive saves. Seniors
Justice Washburn and
Amy Richenderfer each had a defensive save in the second half for McDaniel.
The Green Terror host Swarthmore at Gill Stadium on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
