COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Senior
Jessica Weinoldt scored the game's lone goal to lead the McDaniel College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Ursinus in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams Saturday at Patterson Field.
The Green Terror (5-1-1) posted their fifth win of the season and fifth shutout. The team extended their shutout streak to 218 minutes and are now unbeaten in its last 10 conference openers dating back to 2015, improving its record to 9-0-1.
McDaniel held a 24-8 advantage in shots and a 10-2 margin in corner kicks to avenge a 1-0 loss on the same field in the previous meeting on Oct. 29, 2022.
Weinoldt, a third team All-American last season, scored her second goal of the season just two minutes into the game, scoring off a corner kick with assists from sophomore
Alexis Keller-Posen and graduate student
Elaina Kluttz.
Keller-Posen and Kluttz picked up an assist off a corner kick for the second-straight game off a corner after connecting with freshman
Gabriella Piantadosi in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg at home.
Kluttz leads the team with three assists this season.
The Green Terror defense made their one-goal lead stand, highlighted by three second-half saves by senior
Lauren Hoolahan. Her counterpart, Mandy Carideo, totaled six of her seven saves in the final 45 minutes as she faced 15 shots.
McDaniel begins a three-game home stand on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when it hosts a Centennial Conference contest against Gettysburg. Kickoff from the Soccer Complex is at 4 p.m.
