Kluttz Scores First Goal, No. 25 McDaniel Downs Gettysburg

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Graduate student Elaina Kluttz scored her first goal of the season and second career game-winner as the McDaniel College women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over Gettysburg Wednesday at the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (6-1-1, 2-0 CC) who moved back into the national rankings at No. 25 on Tuesday, extended their home unbeaten streak to 13, improving to 10-0-3. They also extended their conference unbeaten streak to 10, improving to 8-0-2.

McDaniel jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 11 minutes into the contest when freshman Gabriella Piantadosi scored her second goal of the season off an assist from senior Madyson Hill. It was also Hill's second assist of the season and she now leads the team in scoring with eight points this season.

Piantadosi is second on the team with two goals and six points.

Kluttz found the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 24th minute, scoring off a Gettysburg turnover for her fourth career goal. The team leader in assists this season with three, she is now third in points with five.

The Green Terror out-shot the visitors 8-1 in the first half and had both corner kicks as they led 2-0 at the break.

The Bullets (1-5-1, 0-2 CC) turned up the pressure in the second half, holding a 9-5 edge in shots and a 5-3 margin in corner kicks. Jane Daiutolo on the team's 10th and final shot of the contest as they avoided the shutout and snapped McDaniel's scoreless streak at 301 minutes.

Senior Lauren Hoolahan finished with four saves for the Green Terror, including three in the second half as she picked up her 18th win in 29 career starts, improving to 18-5-6.

McDaniel continues its three-game home stand on Saturday when it welcomes Bryn Mawr to the Soccer Complex for a kickoff beginning at noon.
