Fast Start Propels Lebanon Valley to Win Over Field Hockey

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Lebanon Valley scored three goals within the first five minutes of the match to remain unbeaten and secure a 4-0 road victory against the McDaniel College field hockey team on Wednesday.

The Green Terror (2-4) took six shots and three shots on goal compared to 15 and six for the Flying Dutchmen (6-0). Freshman Charley Noah led the way with three shots, while sophomore Kelsey Jennings, senior Morgan Collins and freshman Anna Buyse had one each. Freshman goaltender Teaghen Rieder notched a career-high nine saves on 13 shots faced. The nine saves are the highest single-game total for McDaniel since an 11-save effort against Swarthmore last season.

Gracie Johnson started the scoring for Lebanon Valley just 1:35 into the contest on an assist from Sorrell Long. Johnson then assisted the next goal, scored just past the three-minute mark by Claire Weidenhammer. Jenna Angstadt netted the third goal for the Flying Dutchmen with 4:59 eclipsed in the first quarter. Lauren Foster added a fourth with two minutes to play in the second quarter.

McDaniel opens Centennial Conference play on the road against Johns Hopkins for its next match on Sep. 25 at 4:00pm.
