Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hammer Scores First Goal in 1-0 Road Win at Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Senior Luke Hammer scored the game's lone goal in the 63rd minute to lift the McDaniel College men's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference road victory over Randolph Saturday at WildCat Stadium.

The Green Terror (2-2-1) picked up their first road win of the season in their first-ever meeting against the Wildcats.

Hammer scored his first career goal in 13 games in a McDaniel uniform after totaling nine goals in 31 games at Hood.

Meanwhile, reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Tate Roth, made three saves to record his third shutout in four starts this season. He totaled all three saves in the first half before McDaniel registered a team save in the 52nd minute to keep the game scoreless.

The two teams combined for just seven shots and one corner kick in a quiet first 45 minutes ahead of 12 shots and seven corner kicks in the second half.

The Green Terror scored on the first of their three corner kick opportunities in the second when Hammer netted his 10th collegiate tally and first since Oct. 15, 2022 at Lebanon Valley. Junior Noah Rodriguez picked up the assist, his first point of the season and first since Sept. 19, 2022 when he had an assist in a 6-0 win at Gwynedd-Mercy.

Carter Kelly made four saves for Randolph (1-1-3) who suffered its first loss in five games this season.

McDaniel continues its three-game road trip next Saturday, Sept. 21 when it opens Centennial Conference play at Ursinus. Kickoff from Patterson Field is at 11 a.m.
