WESTMINSTER, Md. - Freshmen
Violet Dyer,
Charley Noah and
Summer Gregory each scored goals as the McDaniel College field hockey team snapped a two-game skid with a resounding 5-1 victory against King's (PA) on Saturday at Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (2-3) have won both meetings against the Monarchs after a 3-0 win in the first-ever match-up last season in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The five goals scored was the highest single-game total for McDaniel since a 9-0 win over Notre Dame (MD) on Sept. 2, 2021.
McDaniel had five different goal scorers and held an 11-6 advantage in shots.
Dyer started the scoring with 7:37 remaining in the first quarter after cleaning up a rebound in front of the net and guiding the ball past diving goaltender, Emily Bollinger.
Noah had a clean look off a penalty corner and scored the first goal of her collegiate career with 10 minutes to play in the second.
The two teams traded goals in the third with McDaniel scoring their third goal just three minutes after King's scored their first. Senior
Madge Myers scored her first goal of the year after collecting a kick save and finding the bottom left corner of the net.
The Green Terror punctuated the win with fourth quarter goals from Gregory and junior
Cassidy Cashman.
McDaniel returns to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when it hosts Lebanon Valley at 6 p.m.
