Eastern Mennonite Edges Men's Soccer in Tight Contest, 2-0

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Eastern Mennonite totaled four shots on goal, capitalizing on two of them in a 2-0 victory over the McDaniel College men's soccer team Wednesday at the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (1-2-1) fell for the second time in two meetings at home against the Royals, dropping a tightly-contested match-up that was statistically even. Eastern Mennonite held an 8-7 advantage in shots while McDaniel held a 4-3 margin in corner kicks.

However, the visitors made the most of their limited opportunities, scoring on one of just two shots in the first 45 minutes before adding an insurance tally with less than 10 minutes remaining in the second half.

Cole Jordan scored his first goal of the season on a cross from Carlos Ventura just 11 minutes into the game on what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Royals.

The Green Terror had five first-half shots, but none were on goal.

Holding a 1-0 lead, Eastern Mennonite (2-2-1) made it stand up after out-shooting McDaniel in the second half, 6-2. Following an offside against the home team, the Royals added an insurance goal in the 81st minute when Josiah King scored on a blast from the top of the box for his first goal of the season.

Sophomore and reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Tate Roth finished with two saves, making one in each half.

The Green Terror begin a three-game road trip on Saturday when they face their second consecutive opponent from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in Randolph. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
