WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior
Madyson Hill scored for the second-straight game while the No. 25 McDaniel College women's soccer team posted its second consecutive shutout with a 2-0 win over Pacific Lutheran Saturday at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (2-0) won the first-ever meeting between the two schools after the Lutes opened the season with a 3-2 win over Centennial Conference rival and No. 17 Johns Hopkins on Friday.
McDaniel extended its home unbeaten streak to 11 and posted its 16th shutout in the last 23 games.
Hill has scored three goals in two games this season and has six points after totaling two in her first 47 career games.
The Green Terror held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first half, but did not break through until the 45th minute when sophomore
Alexis Keller-Posen scored with 36 seconds remaining off an assist from sophomore
Carly Brock on a lob from the right to the top of box off a corner kick.
Brock picked up an assist on the game-winning goal for the second-straight game after she found senior
Jessica Weinoldt on the first goal of the season in Friday's 4-0 win over Goucher.
McDaniel had to withstand a strong push from Pacific Lutheran (1-1) in the second half as the Lutes held a 12-8 edge in shots and a 5-1 margin in corner kicks. However, senior
Lauren Hoolahan was up to the task, making four of her five saves in the final 45 minutes to earn her 14th shutout in 23 career decisions.
With Hoolahan holding the Lutes at bay, the Green Terror were able to secure an insurance tally in the 73rd minute when Hill scored on a centering pass into the top of the box from graduate student
Elaina Kluttz.
McDaniel will have the week to prepare for the Salisbury University Classic as it returns to action next Saturday against St. Mary's (Md.). Kickoff from Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex is at 4 p.m.
