AJ Johnson and junior
Jason Fritz combined for 13 points as the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team posted a 12-6 road win over Shenandoah Wednesday night at Shentel Stadium.
The Green Terror (8-7) picked up their eighth win of the season, their most since 2012 when the team finished with an 11-7 record. They also posted their sixth win in nine road games this season.
Johnson had five goals and six points, both career highs, while Fritz dished out a career-high seven assists. At least one of them had a hand in nine of the team's 12 goals.
Johnson scored three of the team's four first-quarter goals as McDaniel scored the first four goals and led 4-1 after one.
The Hornets (8-6), who sit in fifth place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings, scored back-to-back to cut their deficit in half with 10:19 remaining in the second quarter.
Johnson scored his fourth goal of the game and third off an assist from Fritz with 5:07 left in the second, jump starting a 7-0 run by the visitors as they built an 11-2 lead with 9:17 to play in the fourth.
During the 7-0 run, freshman
Carter Youtz scored a natural hat-trick in a span of six minutes in the third with all three goals coming on assists from Fritz.
The Green Terror scored 12 goals on 32 shots which help the 50 shots for Shenandoah who also won 17-of-22 face-offs.
Graduate student
Brighton Lorber made 22 saves on Wednesday, his 10th career game and second this season with at least 20.
Lorber, who became the program's career saves leader on Saturday, now has 801 career saves and is just the second player in Centennial Conference history to reach 800. Haverford's Ian Pitha-Rowe totaled 926 from 1996-99.
McDaniel plays its final home game of the season on Saturday when it hosts No. 6 Swarthmore at Gill Stadium beginning at noon on Senior Day.
