Youtz Scores Most Goals Since 2014 in 15-7 Win Over Chatham

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Freshman Carter Youtz scored seven goals, the most by a Green Terror since 2014, as the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team posted a 15-7 victory over Chatham Saturday at Gill Stadium.

The Green Terror (6-1), who posted their third-straight win against the Cougars, led 13-2 after three quarters in the first meeting between the two in Westminster since exactly five years ago to the day on March 16, 2019.

Youtz scored the most goals in a game since April 26, 2014 when Patrick Serio also had seven against Gettysburg at Gill Stadium.

Youtz scored five of the first eight goals for McDaniel and recorded his second consecutive hat-trick in the first quarter as McDaniel led 5-1. He has totaled 11 goals over the team's last two games after posting his first career hat-trick with four goals against Randolph-Macon on Wednesday.

The Green Terror led 9-2 at halftime with eight different players recording a point, including graduate student Luke Patterson who picked up his first point of the season with an assist on the first goal of the game from freshman Aidan Skelly.

Youtz was one of three players to score at least three goals for McDaniel as junior Jason Fritz and senior Nick Wingo also recorded a hat-trick with three goals apiece. Fritz also added two assists for five points.

Wingo scored all three of his goals in the second half, including two of the team's four third-quarter tallies. Skelly had three assists in the second half and finished with four to go along with five points, both career highs.

Defensively, the Green Terror limited the Cougars (3-4) to just 22 shots, including 14 through the first three quarters. Sophomore Jack Sabo had three ground balls and one caused turnover while sophomore Finn Forcucci had two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Graduate student Brighton Lorber was credited with seven saves while freshman Zach Olvey had two over the final six minutes.

McDaniel travels to Hood on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest with the Blazers.
