Men's Basketball Rallies For Win Over Washington College

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College men's basketball team scored 12 of the game's final 15 points to rally from a six-point deficit with 5:43 remaining en route to a 54-51 victory over Washington College Tuesday night inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (9-13, 4-11 CC) posted their third-straight win over the Shoremen in Westminster and won their second in-a-row at home, improving their record to 6-5 this season.

The Green Terror trailed 48-42 with just under six minutes remaining before a 9-0 run, highlighted by a three-pointer from senior Chuck Contee that gave them the lead, put McDaniel in front by three, 51-48 with 2:07 left. Contee was one of four different players to score during the run that saw the Green Terror go 3-for-4 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line.

The Shoremen (4-18, 2-13 CC) pulled within one on a driving layup by Kedrick Frink with 17 seconds to play, but Contee made two free throws with eight seconds remaining before Frink had to miss the second of two on purpose with Washington trailing by two with two seconds remaining.

Contee and graduate student Brendan Kade combined for 14 of McDaniel's 30 second-half points with seven each while sophomore David Kearney added five points and five rebounds.

After the two teams combined to shoot just 35.4 percent in the first half, they shot 56.1 percent in the second, going 23-for-41.

Contee finished with a team-high 13 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals while sophomore Jonas Sujeta totaled 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Kade and Kearney each added 10 points while Kearney grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

Junior Lorin Hall had four points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

Frink scored a game-high 24 points, including 17 in the second half and his 1,000th career point on his driving layup with 17 seconds remaining.
