BALTIMORE, Md. - The McDaniel College men's lacrosse team scored nine first-half goals, including six in the first quarter en route to a 14-7 non-conference road win over Goucher Saturday at Beldon Field.
The Green Terror (2-0) have won three-straight against the Gophers and seven in-a-row on the road in the series.
Junior
Jason Fritz scored four goals for McDaniel and leads the team with nine goals and 11 points through the first two games. All four of his goals came in the first half as the visitors scored nine goals and led 9-1 at halftime.
The Green Terror scored the game's first three goals in the opening 4:11 before adding three more over the final 46 seconds to take a 6-1 lead after one. Five different players scored with sophomore
Will Beacham totaling one goal and one assist.
Freshman
Carter Youtz scored his second goal of the game just 1:03 into the second to increase the lead to six before Fritz netted the final two to put the guests up 9-1Â with 6:46 remaining.
McDaniel held its eight goal lead at the break after out-shooting the Gophers 22-14, including 17-3 in the first quarter, and winning 9-of-12 face-offs. Goucher did not score in the second thanks to five saves from graduate student
Brighton Lorber.
The Green Terror scored three more goals in the third quarter to take their largest lead, 12-3, highlighted by the first career tally for freshman
Cash Stanton with 13:01 remaining.
Stanton was one of 10 players to register a point for McDaniel, including juniorÂ
Joe Kieffer who netted his first of the season.
Lorber finished with 11 saves while sophomore
TJ Bunce won 13-of-15 face-offs.
The Green Terror continue their four-game road trip to open the season on Tuesday as they head to Centenary for a 2 p.m. face-off.
