GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Freshman
Raegan Lenz just missed her first career double double as the McDaniel College women's basketball dropped a Centennial Conference contest at No. 25 Gettysburg Wednesday, 56-37.
The Green Terror (12-12, 7-12 CC) now has a record of 12-12 overall this season, including 6-6 on the road and 6-6 at home. The team wraps up the regular season at home on Saturday.
Lenz totaled 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds while adding two blocks and one steal. She was 5-of-8 from the floor and currently leads the team with a 51.9 field goal percentage this season.
After the Bullets (21-3,18-1 CC) scored the game's first eight points, Lenz scored six of the next eight as McDaniel cut its deficit to 10-6 with 4:54 remaining in the first quarter.
However, Gettysburg, ranked 25th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll and third in the NCAA Division III Region V Regional Rankings, finished the period on an 11-2 run to take a 13-point lead, 21-8.
Led by four points from Lenz, the Green Terror scored six of the seven points to start the second and pull within eight, but that would be as close as they would get as the Bullets led 32-17 at halftime and 50-24 after three.
Junior
Lil Overcash finished with nine points and six rebounds while freshman
Ally Mathias added eight points. Junior
Jessica Weinoldt totaled two points, four rebounds and three steals and junior
Peyton Tague had three rebounds and three assists.
McDaniel held Gettysburg to its fifth-fewest point total of the season and sixth-lowest field goal percentage at 35.1 percent.
The Green Terror conclude the regular season at home on Saturday when they host Haverford on Senior Day. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will honor its two senior managers, Chesna Bosnic and
Ellie Glass.
