Fast Start Leads Muhlenberg Past Women's Basketball

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Muhlenberg jumped out to an early lead and never trailed as the Mules posted a 67-36 victory over the McDaniel College women's basketball team Saturday at Memorial Hall.

The Green Terror (12-11, 7-11 CC) attempted 64 shots, including 30 three-pointers, but shot made just 20 percent, its second-lowest percentage this season.

Muhlenberg scored the game's first seven points and never trailed, limiting the visitors to just six first-quarter points as it led, 23-6. McDaniel was just 2-for-15 from the floor in the opening 10 minutes while the Mules scored 14 points in the paint and nine off turnovers.

The Green Terror had their best quarter in the second, scoring 13 points and shooting over 42 percent from the floor, but Muhlenberg increased its lead to 22, leading 41-19 at halftime.

McDaniel grabbed 13 offensive rebounds in the second half which led to eight second-chance points, but the visitors made just one fourth quarter field goal on 19 attempts, scoring four of their six points at the free thow line. All six points for the Green Terror were scored by freshman Teya McConnaha who finished the game with 12.

McConnaha was one of three players with a team-high six rebounds along with freshmen Ally Mathias and Raegan Lenz. Mathias totaled seven points and six rebounds while Lenz had six points and six rebounds to go along with two blocks.

McDaniel hits the road for the final time this season on Wednesday when it heads to Gettysburg for a 6 p.m. tip-off with the No. 24 Bullets.
