Women's Soccer Falls to F&M in Conference Semifinals, 2-1

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior Olivia Moskunas scored her first goal of the season as the McDaniel College women's soccer team fell to Franklin & Marshall on Friday in the semifinals of the 2024 Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship.

The Green Terror (11-4-3), who have advanced to the conference semifinals in each of the last four seasons, will now await to see if they are one of the 64 teams selected to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.

Kate Boujoukos had three points, including the game-winning goal, to lead the Diplomats (9-4-6) to their third conference championship contest in the last four seasons.

Zoe Warne scored her second goal of the season on the game's first shot in the 16th minute to give the visitors the early lead. They would hold their one-goal lead into the half as the two teams combined for just three first-half shots.

After being out-shot 3-0 in the first 45 minutes, McDaniel turned up the pressure in the second half, out-shooting Franklin & Marshall, 11-4.

However, Lucy Fleming totaled all five of her saves in the second half to keep the Green Terror at bay before Boujoukos scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 65th minute and give the Diplomats a 2-0 lead.

McDaniel totaled five shots and three corner kicks over the next 20 minutes before Moskunas was able to find the back of the next on a free kick from about 25 yards out that went untouched through the box and past Fleming into the left corner.

Despite totaling three more shots and one corner over the final six minutes, the Green Terror could not get the equalizer and fell for just the fourth time in their last 40 home games dating back to 2021.

Senior Lauren Hoolahan had two saves, one in each half to lead a defense that gave up two goals for just the third time in 18 games this season.

The selection show for the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship will be streamed on NCAA.com on Monday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
