BALTIMORE, Md. - A total of 11 players scored a point and 13 grabbed a rebound as the McDaniel College women's basketball team posted a 35-point road victory at Notre Dame of Maryland Wednesday night, 71-36.
The Green Terror (4-1) picked up their first road win of the season and have started the season with four wins in their first five games for the second year in-a-row.
Junior
Elaina Beckett led the team in scoring for the third time this season, scoring a game-high 13 points in 19 minutes on 5-of-6 shooting. Sophomore
Teya McConnaha just missed her seventh career double double with eight points and 10 rebounds while sophomore
Amy Mathias just missed her first with seven points and a career-high 10 rebounds in just 10 minutes of action.
Led by six points from sophomore
Caroline Barbalato, McDaniel held a 17-4 lead after the first quarter, holding the Gators (1-5) to just one made field goal on 11 attempts.
Mathias had four points and five rebounds while freshman
Lauren Cavoli added five points as the Green Terror outscored Notre Dame 16-6 in the second quarter and led 33-10 at halftime.
Beckett scored 11 of her 13 points in the third quarter and McDaniel scored a season-high 26 points to stretch its lead to 32 after three, 59-27.
Sophomore
Raegan Lenz had eight points and six rebounds while senior
Lil Overcash tied her career high with six assists.
The Green Terror made a season-high 11 three-pointers with seven players contributing at least one, including junior
Emily Lockard who was 2-for-2.
McDaniel continues its five-game road trip on Saturday when it heads to St. Davids, Pa. to take on Eastern in the first meeting between the two teams since Jan. 10, 2002. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
