Men's Soccer Posts First Postseason Victory Since 2017

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The McDaniel College men's soccer team posted its first postseason victory since 2017 with a 2-0 victory over Hartford in the first round of the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championship Saturday at Juniata College.

The Green Terror (10-7-2) picked up its 10th win of the season, its fourth 10-win season in the last seven under head coach Steve Corrieri.

The win was the first in the postseason for McDaniel since a 2-0 victory over Alvernia on Nov. 11, 2017 in the first round of the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championship. That year, the team fell to eventual champion Lebanon Valley on the road.

The Green Terror scored two goals in the game's first 27 minutes. Junior AJ Nordone scored his second goal of the season, 10th of his career and third game-winner in the 16th minute off an assist from junior Chase Osborn. It was the first career assist for Osborn.

Holding a 1-0 lead, McDaniel would double it on the game's next shot in the 27th minute as senior Brandon Morse netted his second goal of the season following a foul by the Hawks.

Highlighted by five saves from sophomore Tate Roth, the Green Terror posted their 11th shutout in 19 games this season. The defense limited Hartford to 10 shots, including five in each half.

McDaniel, who was whistled for just five fouls and did not receive a card for the fifth time this season, will take on top-seeded host Juniata on Sunday at 1 p.m. It will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the Green Terror posted a 2-1 win at home on Oct. 25, 2022. Nordone had an assist in the contest.
