YORK, Pa. - The McDaniel College women's basketball team scored 20 first-quarter points and led by 11 en route to a 66-52 win over York (Pa.) Tuesday night at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

The Green Terror (3-0) snapped a six-game road losing streak against the Spartans, posting their first road win in the series since Jan. 26, 2010.

Junior Elaina Beckett led the team in scoring for the third game in-a-row with a game-high 19 points while adding six rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore Teya McConnaha had 10 points, six rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

As a team, McDaniel limited the Spartans (1-1) to just 28.8 percent shooting from the floor while forcing 17 turnovers as the visitors totaled eight steals and five blocks.

The Green Terror scored 11 of the game's first 15 points to lead by seven before a 6-0 run pushed their margin to 11 before a three-pointer by sophomore Kennadi Johnson gave them a 20-9 lead after one quarter of play.

McDaniel stretched its lead to 15 late in the second quarter on a three-pointer by sophomore Amy Mathias and took a 33-21 advantage into halftime.

Trailing by 15 midway through the third, York scored eight-straight points to pull within seven, 43-36 with 2:39 left, and trailed by nine after three following a layup by senior Peyton Tague with 33 seconds remaining.

Led by eight points from Beckett, the Green Terror began the final quarter on a 14-5 run to take their largest lead of the game, 61-43. They scored their final five points from the free throw line, going 5-for-6 over the final 1:51.
