CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The McDaniel College volleyball team dropped its first road match in Centennial Conference play, losing in straight sets to Washington College Wednesday evening.
Junior
Kailey Young led the Green Terror (9-4, 0-2) with 10 kills on 28 attempts while also collecting two assists, two digs and a block assist. Senior
Angalyn Strouse finished with seven kills and sophomore
Hannah Waters tied a career-high with four kills. Freshman
Kaylee Comstock led the team with 16 assists and two service aces, maintaining her spot atop the Centennial Conference leaderboard. Senior
Katherine Taveras added 16 digs, bringing her career total to 975.
The Green Terror held a 12-10 lead in the opening set before the Shorewomen (11-5, 1-1) scored eight of the next 10 points to gain momentum. Washington College finished the first set on a 5-0 run to win 25-19. McDaniel shook off an early deficit in set two to bring the score to within three before another late run gave the Shorewomen a 25-21 win. The Green Terror trailed 9-7 in the third before an 11-2 run sealed the victory for Washington College in straight sets.
McDaniel continues its three-match road trip with a showdown against Centennial Conference rival Ursinus on Friday at 7 pm.
