No. 22 McDaniel Extends Unbeaten Streak with Draw at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - Graduate student Elaina Kluttz scored her second goal of the season as the McDaniel College women's soccer team extended its Centennial Conference unbeaten streak with a 1-1 draw at Franklin & Marshall Saturday.

The Green Terror (8-1-2, 4-0-1 CC) are unbeaten in their last 13 conference contests dating back to a 3-0 win over Bryn Mawr at home on Sept. 23, 2023. Since then, the team has posted a mark of 10-0-3 in league play.

The Diplomats (3-2-6, 1-0-1 CC), who are unbeaten in nine of their 11 games this season, earned their sixth tie of the season after taking an early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute. After a McDaniel shot was blocked, Franklin & Marshall quickly transitioned from offense to defense where Dahlia Pepe scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season off an assist from Julianna Sirico.

The goal marked just the second time in 11 games this season that McDaniel allowed the game's first goal. The Green Terror have trailed for just 105 out of 990 minutes.

The Diplomats maintained its one-goal lead after the first 45 minutes and took the first four shots of the second half before Kluttz netted the equalizer in the 60th minute off an assist from senior Jessica Weinoldt. It marked the fourth time this season, all in the last five games, that the two have connected on a goal.

With the game tied at 1-1, the two teams combined for nine shots over the final 30 minutes, but neither could get the game-winner as they battled to their fifth draw in the last five meetings. Defense has been the theme as each team has scored twice over those five meetings with three ending in scoreless draws.

Of the last 32 meetings since 1992, 21 have been decided by just one goal or resulted in a tie.

Senior Lauren Hoolahan finished with six saves, one shy of her season-high set at Messiah on Sept. 11. She totaled three in each half.

McDaniel steps out of conference on Wednesday when it welcomes Mary Washington to the Soccer Complex. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
