Weinoldt Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Posts 10-Win Season

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior Jessica Weinoldt scored twice, including the game-winner, as the McDaniel College women's soccer team posted another 10-win season with a 3-2 victory over Swarthmore Saturday at the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (10-2-3, 6-0-2 CC) totaled their 10th 10-win season in the last 11. Since 2013, the team has totaled 139 victories, posting a 139-49-26 record, an average of 13 wins per season.

The win also kept McDaniel unbeaten in Centennial Conference play this season, the last team to lay claim to that fact. The Green Terror are unbeaten in their last 16 conference games overall and unbeaten in their last 17 conference games at home dating back to Oct. 16, 2021.

With two goals, Weinoldt took over the team lead with five this season while netting her fourth game-winner. She also netted the 20th goal of her career, becoming the 20th player in program history to score at least 20 goals. Nine of her 20 career goals have been game-winners.

Freshman Grace Duffey got the scoring started with her first career goal off an assist from Weinoldt in the 16th minute. Duffey is the ninth different Green Terror to score a goal this season.

The Garnet (7-3-5, 4-2-2 CC) tied the game less than 10 minutes later when Celia Kanellakos netted her fifth of the year.

The game remained tied at 1-1 at halftime, but didn't stay tied much longer as Weinoldt scored just 53 seconds into the second half before adding her second on a rocket from 30 yards out in ther upper right corner less than three minutes later.

Graduate student Elaina Kluttz picked up her team-leading sixth assist of the season on Weinoldt's first goal while junior Abby Witzel had the helper on her second.

Ava Gizzie notched her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 57th minute to pull Swarthmore within one, but despite registering six of the game's final eight shots, the visitors could not get the equalizer.

Senior Lauren Hoolahan finished with six saves, including two in the final 14 minutes, to pick up her 10th win of the season and 22nd of her career. She is just one win shy from tying Haley Jacobs (2013-16) for the fourth-most wins by a goalkeeper in program history.

McDaniel concludes the regular season with two road contests beginning Wednesday at No. 14 Johns Hopkins. Kickoff from Homewood Field is at 7 p.m.
