Rieder Totals Career-High 13 Saves in Loss at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Freshman Teaghen Reider made a career-high 13 saves as the McDaniel College field hockey team fell at Haverford Saturday, 4-0.

The loss marked the final road game for the Green Terror (3-12, 0-8 CC) this season. They finish the season with back-to-back home games against Franklin & Marshall and No. 11 Bryn Mawr.

The Centennial Conference leader with 99 saves, Reider posted her fifth game with at least 10 saves this season. Her previous career high was 11 saves set against Swarthmore on Sept. 27.

Meanwhile, senior Justice Washburn added her third defensive save of the season. As a team, McDaniel leads the conference in defensive saves with 14.

Haverford (8-7, 4-5 CC) scored just six minutes into the contest when Amy Kim scored off the team's fourth penalty corner on an assist from Naomi York.

Freshman Samira Morgan had a chance to even the score with five minutes remaining in the first, but was denied on both her first and second shot off a rebound by the Fords' Mary Smith.

Both teams battled in the second quarter with no score for the first 10 minutes However, that changed with 5:30 remaining when Louisa Coughlin found the back of the net for her second goal.

Two minutes later, York added a goal of her own when she controlled a loose ball in front to give the Fords a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Fords added their final tally when Louisa Coughlin scored off a rebound with 6:21 remaining in the third quarter.
 
The Green Terror return home on Wednesday to take on Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference contest at 6 p.m.
