WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior
Madyson Hill scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season as the McDaniel College women's soccer team posted its fourth Centennial Conference win in a 1-0 victory over Dickinson Wednesday at the Soccer Complex.
The No. 22 Green Terror (8-1-1, 4-0 CC) extended their home unbeaten streak to 15 games while extending their conference unbeaten streak to 12.
McDaniel posted its eighth win of the season and seventh by shutout. During its current five-game win streak, the team has outscored its opponents, 7-1.
The Green Terror controlled the opening 14 minutes, registering the game's first seven shots before Hill broke through on the seventh, scoring in front off an assist from junior
Abby Witzel, the first of her career.
Hill leads the team with four goals and 10 points this season.
Six of McDaniel's seven shots were on target, but the first five were turned away by Sophia Kavulich who totaled five of her six saves in the first 12 minutes to keep game scoreless.
After surrendering the game's first goal, the Red Devils (6-2-1, 2-2 CC) responded with the final eight shots of the half, but could not get the equalizer as just one was on goal and easily stopped by senior
Lauren Hoolahan.
The visitors continued the pressure in the second half, totaling nine shots, but Hoolahan turned away each of the three on frame to lead the Green Terror to their fifth shutout in six home games this season.
The last five meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal or less with McDaniel posting a 4-0-1 record. The Green Terror are also unbeaten in their last six home games against Dickinson dating back to 2013, posting a 5-0-1 record.
McDaniel travels to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday for a 6 p.m. kickoff with the Diplomats at Tylus Field.
