WESTMINSTER, Md. - Freshman
Lauren Green netted her first career game-winning goal to lead the McDaniel College women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Haverford at the Soccer Complex Saturday on Senior Day.
With the win, the Green Terror (9-2-3, 5-0-2 CC) strengthened their hold on second place in the Centennial Conference standings as they now have 17 points, three more than Swarthmore, their next opponent. Meanwhile, the Fords slipped to fourth place, one point behind the Garnet.
McDaniel also extended its conference unbeaten streak to 15 games. The team is also unbeaten in its last 16 conference games at home (13-0-3) dating back to a 2-0 win over Haverford on Oct. 16, 2021.
The Green Terror controlled the game from the start, out-shooting the Fords 7-1 in the first half while holding a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Green scored her second goal of the season off a rebound in the box on an assist by junior
Sarah Hurley whose shot was saved by Lily Buyer.
The second half was tighter statistically with McDaniel holding a 5-3 edge in shots and a 4-1 margin in corner kicks. Freshman
Gabriella Piantadosi was able to add some insurance in the 80th minute when she redirected a shot by sophomore
Alexis Keller-Posen in the box for her third goal of the season.

Senior
Lauren Hoolahan faced four shots, stopping Haverford's only one on goal in the 22nd minute. She recorded her sixth shutout of the season and the 19th of her career.
Buyer also had one save for the Haverford (10-4-1, 4-2-1 CC).
The Green Terror host Swarthmore in their final home game of the regular season next Saturday, October 26 beginning at 3 p.m.
