WESTMINSTER, Md. - Muhlenberg scored the game's lone goal with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter to post a 1-0 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team Saturday at Gill Stadium on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, the Green Terror (3-11, 0-7 CC) honored its eight seniors in
Monica Fuentes,
Justice Washburn,
Reagan Cushman,
Morgan Collins,
Amy Richenderfer,
Madge Myers,
Tenley Pelot and
Tori McArthur.
The Mules (6-8, 1-6 CC) took advantage of their third corner of the game. Off the insertion, Erin DiSandro took a shot that was redirected in by Abba Diglio for her team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Despite holding an 8-0 advantage in shots through three quarters, Muhlenberg could not add a second goal as the McDaniel defense, highlighted by four saves from freshman
Teghan Rieder, limited the visitor's opportunities.
The Mules increased the pressure in the final quarter, out-shooting the Green Terror, 7-1. However, the home team turned away all seven shots with Reider adding six of her 10 saves in the period and Richenderfer adding her fourth defensive save of the season and the eighth of her career.
McDaniel earned all three of its penalty corners over the last 10 minutes, but was unable to convert as the team's lone shot with less than five minutes remaining was saved by the Mules' Maddie Schwartz for her lone stop of the game.
