McDaniel Extends Unbeaten Streak With Draw Against Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The McDaniel College women's soccer team extended its conference unbeaten streak to 14 with a 1-1 draw versus Washington College Wednesday at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

The Green Terror (8-2-3, 4-0-2 CC), who are 10-0-4 in their last 14 conference contests, have allowed just four goals during that time, outscoring their opponents, 18-4.

The Shoremen held a 10-8 margin in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Washington (6-2-6, 2-2-2 CC) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute on its second shot of the game as Sophie Kilbride scored her third goal of the season of an assist from Kayla Streett.

McDaniel tied the game five minutes later, netting the equalizer on an own goal by the Shorewomen.

With the game still tied at 1-1 in the 74th minute, the Green Terror had an opportunity to take the lead on back-to-back shots by junior Bayleigh Perdue. The first was saved by Olivia Allen and the second was credited to the team after defender Amity Harrington stopped it from going into the open net before clearing it off the line to keep the game tied.

Those would be the last two saves of the game as the two teams combined for 11 shots in the second half, but just four on goal.

Senior Lauren Hoolahan finished with three saves for the Green Terror and is unbeaten in 28 out of 34 career starts, including 11 of 13 this season.

McDaniel opens a crucial two-game home stand on Saturday when it hosts Haverford at 3 p.m. for Senior Day. The Green Terror then welcome Swarthmore to the Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 26.

McDaniel currently sits in second place in the Centennial Conference standings with 14 points, one ahead of Haverford and Swarthmore.
