Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goal Leads No. 8 Dickinson to 1-0 Win Over Men's Soccer

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College men's soccer team held No. 8 Dickinson scoreless through 80 minutes before Saul Iwowo scored to allow the Red Devils to escape the Soccer Complex with a 1-0 win Saturday.

Facing their second nationally-ranked opponent in the last three games, the Green Terror (6-5-1, 2-3 CC) withstood an early charge by the visitors as they held an 11-2 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.

However, McDaniel limited Dickinson, who is ranked second in the conference in points and shots, to just three shots on goal, all of which were stopped by sophomore Tate Roth.

In the second half, the Green Terror held the Red Devils to seven shots, including four on frame, and just two corners. The visitors had just one shot on goal through the first 35 minutes before Iwowo scored his fifth goal of the season in the 81st minute off assists from Ethan Jarden and Nicholas Dwamena.

Dickinson (11-1-1, 3-1-1 CC) had shots in the 83rd and 84th minute, but both were turned away by Roth before attempts at an equalizer by junior Chase Osborn and junior Noah Rodriguez just 19 seconds apart in the 86th and 87th minute were off target.

McDaniel fell the first time in its last three games at home, allowing its first goal since the 81st minute against Eastern Mennonite on Sept. 11.

The Green Terror continue their four-game home stand on Wednesday when they host a non-conference contest versus local rival Stevenson beginning at 4 p.m.
