WESTMINSTER, Md. - With the game tied for the 10th time with under 10 minutes remaining, Swarthmore used an 18-2 run take its largest lead en route to a 75-65 win over the McDaniel College men's basketball team Tuesday night inside the Gill Center.
The loss was the first in the last three games at home for the Green Terror (5-7, 1-5 CC).
Sophomore
Jonas Sujeta posted his fourth career 20-point performance, including third this season. He finished with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
As a team, McDaniel made at least nine three pointers for the fourth time this season.
Senior
Chuck Contee added 17 points to go along with a team-high six rebounds and three assists. He was also 6-of-12 from the floor.
With the Green Terror holding a 56-53 lead with 9:51 to play, Michael Caprise converted a three-point play for the Garnet to tie the game for the 10th time, 56-56. The play kick started an 18-2 run that saw Swarthmore go 6-for-10 from the floor to take its largest lead of the game, 71-58.
Meanwhile, the visitors held McDaniel to 0-of-7 shooting and forcing four turnovers.
Caprise scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as he went 7-for-9 from the free throw line. The Garnet scored 24 of their 43 second-half points in the paint. They shot 63 percent from the floor, going 15-for-24 while limiting the Green Terror to 44 percent on 10-of-23 shooting.
Graduate student
Brendan Kade and junior
Lorin Hall each had nine points while Hall added four assists.
McDaniel returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Haverford for a 7Â p.m. tip-off at Calvin Gooding Arena.
