McConnaha Posts Second Double Double in Win Over Bryn Mawr

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Freshman Teya McConnaha posted her second double double of the season to lead the McDaniel College women's basketball team to a 56-48 victory over Bryn Mawr Saturday on Rebecca L. Martin Court.

The Green Terror (11-6, 6-8 CC) picked up their sixth conference win of the season and sixth at home to move into the sixth and final playoff spot in the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Championship.

McConnaha totaled a career-high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds, recording her second double double and first since she had 17 points and 17 rebounds in a 68-64 win over York (Pa.) at home on Nov. 15.

Freshman Carli Vogel had nine points and seven rebounds while freshman Ally Mathias added seven points and a career-high nine rebounds.

Led by eight points from McConnaha, McDaniel scored 15 of the game's first 17 points to take a 15-2 lead with 2:48 remaining in the first quarter. McConnaha outscored the Owls in the opening 10 minutes as the Green Terror led 15-7 after one.

McDaniel stretched its lead to as many as 16 in the second quarter, 31-15 with 2:14 to play, before holding a 31-21 advantage at halftime. McConnaha added five more points in the second and finished the first half with 13 of the team's 31 points as she was 5-of-7 from the floor.

McConnaha totaled eight of her 10 rebounds in the second half as the Green Terror held a 26-17 edge in rebounds, totaling 14 on the offensive end which led to 15 second-chance points.

McDaniel finished the game with 26 second-chance points as it held aa 48-34 advantage in rebounding while scoring 32 of its 56 points in the paint.

The Owls (2-16, 0-14 CC) were led by Jessica Smith who had a game-high 19 points. They also went 18-for-20 from the free throw line.

The Green Terror return to action Wednesday when they host Dickinson at 6 p.m.
