BALTIMORE, Md. - McDaniel College men's basketball senior
Chuck Contee posted his second career 20-point game and first this season in a 74-61 loss to No. 24 Johns Hopkins Thursday night at Goldfarb Gymnasium.
The Green Terror (7-11, 2-9 CC) scored 36 points in the paint, but couldn't overcome and eight-point halftime deficit after both teams shot 50 percent in the first half.
Contee finished with 27 points, one shy of his career high set in a 74-68 loss at Washington College on Feb. 7, 2023. He was 10-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from three-point range while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.
With the game tied at 5-5, the Blue Jays (14-4, 10-1 CC) scored seven-straight points en rote to a 21-11 lead with 9:31 remaining in the first half. McDaniel scored eight of the next 10 points to cut the deficit to four with under seven minutes left, but Hopkins answered with a 10-3 run to take its largest lead, 33-22 with 2:20 to play.

Lorin Hall added seven as the Green Terror trailed 37-29.
The Blue Jays made five of their first seven shots to start the second half, including two three-pointers, as they pushed their lead to 15. McDaniel pulled within eight, 52-44, midway through the second, but Hopkins responded with a 17-6 run to take its largest lead, 69-49 with less than five minutes remaining.
Hall finished with 11 points and four assists while four other players each had four points.
McDaniel plays the first of back-to-back home games on Saturday when they host Franklin & Marshall. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. inside the Gill Center.
