WESTMINSTER, Md. - Gettysburg outscored the McDaniel College women's basketball team by 19 points over the second and third quarters en route to a 71-42 Centennial Conference victory Wednesday on Rebecca L. Martin Court.
The Green Terror (10-5, 5-5 CC) shot just 30.2 percent from the floor, its lowest of the season, while committing 22 turnovers in suffering their third-straight loss at home.
Sophomore
Elaina Beckett was the lone player in double figures for McDaniel, finishing with 13 points. Freshman
Teya McConnaha totaled nine points and a team-high six rebounds.
The Bullets (12-3, 9-1 CC) led 18-14 following the first quarter before outscoring the Green Terror 21-11 in the second to take a 39-25 halftime lead. The visitors scored 12 points in the paint and 10 off 10 McDaniel turnovers.
Leading by 14, Gettysburg scored the first 14 points of the third quarter to take a 53-25 lead, holding the Green Terror scoreless until a layup by Beckett with 2:15 remaining. After being limited to three first-half points on just two shots, Beckett scored all seven of the team's points in the third quarter as the team was outscored, 16-7.
The Bullets scored 40 of their 71 points in the paint and 29 off turnovers. They also scored 19 fast-break and 18 second-chance points while going 17-of-24 from the free throw line.
Junior
Peyton Tague had six points and four rebounds while junior
Lil Overcash added a career-high six assists.
McDaniel begins a three-game road trip on Saturday when the team heads to Ursinus for a 3 p.m. tip-off with the Bears. The Green Terror won the first meeting this season, 62-58 on Dec. 2.
