HARRISONBURG, Va. - The McDaniel College men's soccer freshman
Gianluca Conte made his first career appearance in goal in a scoreless draw on the road at Eastern Mennonite Saturday.
The Green Terror (2-0-2) continued their unbeaten streak this season to four and most notably, extended their scoreless streak to 360 minutes as the team has yet to allow a goal this season.
Conte finished with three saves for his first career shutout as McDaniel out-shot the Royals, 11-5. Sophomores
Carver Neary and
AJ Nordone each registered three shots while junior
Jared Edge had two.
Andrew Arledge made six saves for Eastern Mennonite (1-1-1), including four in the second half as the visitors held a 6-3 margin in shots.
This marks the second-straight season that the Green Terror have not allowed a goal through its first four games of the season. Last year, the team started with four-straight wins while outscoring its opponents, 9-0. The streak grew to 415:15 before Goucher scored in the 56th minute of a 2-1 loss to McDaniel in the fifth game of the season on Sept. 14, 2022.
The Green Terror finished with 10 shutouts in 17 games a year ago.
McDaniel concludes its brief two-game road trip on Sunday when it faces Bridgewater (Va.) in the first meeting between the two teams since 2014. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
