Trio of First Goals Lead Women's Soccer Past Bryn Mawr

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Three different players scored for the McDaniel College women's soccer team in a 3-0 Centennial Conference win over Bryn Mawr Saturday at the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (4-2-2, 1-1-1 CC), who are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 Poll, extended their home unbeaten streak to three.

All three players scored their first goals of the season for McDaniel, including freshman Mackenzie Clement and senior Taylor Mazan who each netted the first goals of their career.

Meanwhile, the Green Terror defense, highlighted by three saves from junior Lauren Hoolahan and senior Grayson Jons, held the Owls to just three shots in picking up their fifth shutout in eight games this season.

McDaniel scored the game-winner just two minutes into the game when Clement dribbled past the defense and placed a perfect chip over the keeper's head for her first collegiate goal.

A few minutes later, fellow freshman Carly Brock ripped a shot inside the box, but Owls keeper Natalia Chorzepa was there for the save.

In the 11th minute, senior Elaina Kluttz dished it to junior Jessica Weinoldt who found the back of the net for the second goal of the game. Kluttz picked up her second assist of the season as the Green Terror took its 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Both teams started the second half in much the same way. Clement and Brock had early shots, but neither was on frame.

In total, McDaniel totaled 27 shots on the afternoon, including 17 in the second half.

As the game entered its final 15 minutes, senior Taylor Mazan checked in for McDaniel. A few minutes later, senior Allison Storm lined up a corner kick and sent it deep into the box near the six-yard line. Mazan positioned her self and created space, timing her jump and heading it into the back of the net for her first career goal.

Unbeaten in four out of five non-conference contests this season, the Green Terror travel to Elizabethtown on Tuesday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
