GETTYSBURG, Pa. - McDaniel traveled to Gettysburg to take on the Bullets in their second Centennial Conference game of the season. The Bullets scored early in the second half and held on late to beat the Green Terror 1-0.
The Bullets went on the offensive early in the first half with a shot in the fourth minute of action. Junior goal keeper
Lauren Hoolahan was in position and made the save. McDaniel countered with shots by
Elaina Kluttz and
Kiersten Crowley, but neither were on frame. The Bullets out shot McDaniel in the first half 6-4, but
Hoolahan kept Gettysburg in check with three saves to keep her clean sheet going.Â
As the second half began, Bullets forward Hannah Kernis took possession of a loose ball in the box and drove it towards the corner of the net to put Gettysburg up 1-0.Â
McDaniel regrouped and pushed the ball into the Gettysburg side of the field. In the 54th minute,
Jessica Weinoldt created space and sent a shot on goal, but the Bullets keeper was there for the save. Five minutes later, freshman
Carly Brock ripped a shot, but was also denied by Gettysburg goalie Alex Jurrow. As the half continued, McDaniel stayed in control with 15 shots in the second half compared to the Bullets one.Â
In the 76th minute,
Mackenize Clement had an opportunity and took a shot, but it was saved by Jurrow to keep McDaniel off the board. As the clock wound down,
Liz LeChard sent a shot over the crossbar, then
Weinoldt connected on a hard low drive to the far corner of the goal, but Burrow was there for the save once again. Gettysburg held on for the 1-0 win.
McDaniel returns to action on Saturday at home against Bryn Mawr. The match is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m.
