GALLOWAY, N.J. - The defense of the McDaniel College women's soccer team limited Stockton to just four shots as it battled the host Ospreys to a scoreless draw Saturday in the final game of the Stockton Classic.
The Green Terror (1-0-1) extended their scoreless streak to 180 minutes this season and 206:50 dating back to last year. Junior
Lauren Hoolahan made two saves to pick up her second career shutout.
McDaniel out-shot Stockton 7-4, including 4-1 in the first half. Less than four minutes into the game, the Green Terror earned the first corner kick and junior
Jessica Weinoldt took the first shot, but it went wide right.
Two minutes later, Stockton answered with a corner kick of its own which led to its lone shot of the half from the top of the box that was saved by Hoolahan.
McDaniel drew three more corner kicks and had three more shots in the half, but each one was off target and the game remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes.
The same story played out in the second half with the visitors earning the first corner and senior
Elaina Kluttz taking the first shot, but it was saved by the Ospreys' Morgan Keil.
Stockton (1-0-1) had four corner kicks over a span of four minutes, but managed just two shots, the second of which was saved by Hoolahan in the 55th minute.
Junior
Sam Rodrick and junior
Liz LeChard, who netted the game's lone goal on Friday, each had shots in the final 17 minutes, but both were saved by Keil.
The Ospreys had the game's final attempt to break the drought with a corner kick in the 90th minute, but the Green Terror defense did not allow a final shot and the teams finished in a draw in the first-ever meeting between the two.
McDaniel makes its home debut on Tuesday when it welcomes Randolph-Macon to the Soccer Complex for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
