WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College women's soccer team opened Centennial Conference play with a scoreless draw at home against Ursinus on Saturday at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (3-1-2, 0-0-1 CC) posted their fourth shutout in six games this season, including second in-a-row, extending their scoreless streak to 255:10.
In a physical game that featured 19 fouls and two cards, McDaniel started the game on the offensive with six shots in the first 20 minutes. JuniorÂ
Jessica Weinoldt found an opening in the defense and took a shot in the fourth minute, but Ursinus goalkeeper Maddie Nau was there for the save.
A few minutes later, freshman
Carly Brock had a chance, but Nau was also there for the save. SophomoreÂ
Bayleigh Perdue ripped a pair of shots just past the 20-minute mark, but could not find the back of the net.
Though unable to break the deadlock, the Green Terror maintained possession and controlled the tempo of the game for most of the first half. SeniorsÂ
Allison Storm and
Elaina Kluttz constantly stepped into passing lanes and pressured the Bears into turnovers.
In 90 minutes, McDaniel held Ursinus to just three shots. Meanwhile, McDaniel totaled 22 shots including a scrum in front of the net with 14 minutes remaining where Perdue, Weinoldt, and freshman
Mackenzie Clement all registered shots.
Junior
Lauren Hoolahan finished with three saves to earn her fourth shutout in six career starts. She now boasts a 0.33 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.
McDaniel returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Gettysburg for a 7 p.m. Centennial Conference contest.
