Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Pelot, Scarangello Key Field Hockey's 3-0 Win at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - McDaniel College field hockey junior Tenley Pelot had two assists while freshman Lora Scarangello picked up her first career shutout as the team posted a 3-0 road win at King's (Pa.) Saturday.

The Green Terror (2-3) concluded their three-game road trip with a three-goal victory in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

After a scoreless first quarter in which the Monarchs (0-6) registered the only two shots and three penalty corners, McDaniel struck first just over three minutes into the second quarter off their second penalty corner.

Junior Morgan Collins had her first shot off the first corner saved by Grace Venis before Collins had another attempt on the ensuing corner just 13 seconds later. This time, she took the pass from Pelot and found the back of the cage for the second time in as many games to give the visitors what proved to be the game-winning goal.

The defender, who had just one goal in 36 career games entering Wednesday's contest at Lebanon Valley, now has goals in back-to-back games, including her first career game-winner.

Just under four minutes later, McDaniel would strike again on a penalty corner when senior Olivia Vanreusel scored her first career goal in 35 games off another assist from Pelot.

For Pelot, it was the first multi-assist game of her 37-game career.

Leading 2-0 at halftime, the Green Terror held an 8-1 advantage in shots and a 6-0 margin in penalty corners in the second half. The team would add an insurance tally with 3:39 remaining when senior Emma Legacy scored her second goal of the season on a rebound off another corner after a shot by Collins was blocked in front.

McDaniel out-shot King's 6-0 in the fourth quarter and held a 3-0 advantage in corners.

Not to be overlooked by the team's highest offensive output since a 4-0 win at Hood in its season opener on Sept. 1, 2022 was the first career shutout in goal for freshman Lora Scarangello. She finished with two saves and faced six penalty corners to earn her second career win.

The Green Terror return home to Gill Stadium for the first time since Sept. 6 when they hosts a non-conference contest versus Hood on Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m.
