FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - McDaniel College men's golf senior
Ryan McGarry finished third to lead the Green Terror to a fourth-place team finish at the Gettysburg Spring Shootout Sunday at Penn National Golf Club.
In a final tune-up and preview of next week's Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championship, McDaniel finished fourth behind three conference opponents in Franklin & Marshall (603), Swarthmore (604) and Gettysburg (606).
McGarry shot a three-over par 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for third with Gettysburg's Cameron Deiuliis and Daniel Suter. McGarry carded 11 pars and two birdies en route to his fourth top-5 finish in nine events this season. He also led the 53 player field in par 3 scoring at even par.
As a team, McDaniel led the tournament in par 5 scoring, finishing the four hardest holes on the course at six under par.
Joining McGarry atop the par 3 scoring leaderboard was junior
Evan Rutherford who finished in a tie for seventh with a 150, a new 36-hole best this season. He posted his second top-10 finish and first since he was fourth at the Elizabethtown Fall Invite on Sept. 14, 2022.
The Green Terror placed five golfers in the top 20. Freshman
Charlie Dolan improved eight spots from Saturday's opening round to finish 14th with a 154.
Freshman
Ethan Crabb was the biggest mover on Sunday, improving 14 spots to 16th with a 155 following a second-round 74. He was the team's top performer in par 5 scoring, finishing the two-day tournament at three-under par.
Sophomore
Hogan Schulze finished 18th with a 156 while sophomore
Dell Grieser placed 22nd with a 158.
The 2023 Centennial Conference Men's Golf Championships get underway on Friday, April 28 at Waynesboro Country Club in Waynesboro, Pa. McDaniel finished third a year ago.
