DeLoriers Leads Men's Lacrosse in Loss at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - McDaniel College men's lacrosse senior Nick DeLoriers had seven points, but a seven-goal run to end the first quarter and start the second gave Haverford its biggest lead en route to a 15-12 victory Saturday at Swan Field.

The Green Terror (7-8, 0-6 CC) outscored the Fords 10-6 over the final 44 minutes, but could not overcome a 9-2 deficit with 14:16 remaining in the second quarter.

With three goals and four assists, DeLoriers now has 28 goals, 34 assists and 62 points this season, all career highs.

DeLoriers now has 162 career points, moving him into 15th place on the school's all-time list. He also moved into the top-20 in career goals with 82 while becoming the 12th player in program history with 80 career assists.

Haverford (4-8, 2-3 CC) began the game with back-to-back goals in the first 2:11 before goals by DeLoriers and sophomore Jason Fritz tied the game with 8:06 to play.

However, the Fords scored the next seven goals, including five in the final two minutes of the first quarter and two in the first 44 seconds of the second to take a seven-goal advantage.

Led by one goal and three assists from DeLoriers, McDaniel would answer with five of the next six tallies to cut the deficit to three, but Teddy Carlin scored with just three seconds remaining to give Haverford an 11-7 halftime advantage.

Haverford out-shot the Green Terror 35-11 in the first half, including 20-3 in the opening quarter. The Fords also held McDaniel to just 7-of-14 on clear attempts.

The Green Terror cut the lead to two on DeLoriers' third goal of the game with 6:50 to play in the fourth, but that would be as close as they would get before Haverford capped the scoring with 6:00 left to provide the final margin.

Fritz finished with four goals and one assist while seniors Dylan Vitale and Zach Micklos had two goals apiece. Graduate student Brighton Lorber made 17 saves and now has 590 for his career, just 10 shy of becoming the fourth player in team history to total 600.

Senior Logan Feuer added two caused turnovers.
