Kelly Totals Four RBIs as Baseball Falls at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - In a high-scoring affair on Tuesday, Gettysburg scored nine runs over its final four offensive innings to edge the McDaniel College baseball team Tuesday at Kirchhoff Field, 12-10.

McDaniel (15-11, 3-4 CC) was led byt four hits and four RBIs from senior Hunter Kelly while freshman Ben Davis racked up three RBIs on two hits. Kelly is currently second on the team with a .342 batting average.

Leadoff hitter David Preziuso also went 4-for-4 on the day to lead the Bullets.

The Green Terror didn't take long getting on the board with two runs in the top of the first on a two-run double to right by Kelly that scored Davis and Jake Smith.

Freshman Dylan Parsons got the start for McDaniel and made quick work of the Bullets through the first two innings. In the bottom of the third inning, Gettysburg put two men on before Kyle Miller doubled to center to tie the game at 2-2.

The Bullets added one more run to take a 3-2 lead after three.

McDaniel would tie the game for the second time with a run in the top of the fourth on an RBI-double by Connor Uhrig.

Parsons continued to hold the Gettysburg offense in check and fellow freshman Robert Weer assisted with a great throw to third to catch Mabret Levant stealing.

The Bullets added a run in the fifth to retake the lead before Kelly led off the sixth with a ground-rule double over the left field fence. Uhrig and Austin Goudeaux were then both hit-by-pitch to load the bases. After a wild pitch, Kelly scored to tie the game at 4-4.

Tyler Yohn drew a walk as well and Davis ripped a double into the gap in right center to score all three runners. Joey Hubinger singled through the infield to score Davis and give the visitors an 8-4 lead.

However, Gettysburg (15-13, 2-5 CC) would tie the game for the fourth time and mark the game's fourth lead change as they matched McDaniel's five-run top of the sixth with five runs of its own in the bottom of the inning.

Leading 9-8, the Bullets added another three runs in the seventh on a bases clearing triple by Jack Burke.

Trailing by four, McDaniel cut into the lead on Kelly's second double of the game that scored Smith and Davis.

McDaniel and Gettysburg conclude their two-game Centennial Conference series on Friday at McDaniel's Preston Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
