MONTCLAIR, N.J. - A day after netting his first career hat-trick, McDaniel College men's lacrosse juniorÂ
Nick Wingo added his second as he had four points in the Green Terror's 9-4 win at Montclair State Sunday.
McDaniel (4-1) won its fourth-straight, the team's longest win streak since March 14, 2018. That year, the team started the season five wins in its first seven games.
The Green Terror scored six of the game's first seven goals and never trailed as they picked up its first road win of the season and third in four all-time meetings against the Red Hawks.
Wingo and senior
Nick DeLoriers each scored two of the team's first six goals while sophomore
Jason Fritz dished out four assists.
Trailing 6-1, Montclair State (2-2) scored three consecutive goals to close out the third quarter and pull within two, 6-4.
However, that would be as close as the Red Hawks would get as McDaniel scored three unanswered in the fourth, including the third from Wingo and the first from Fritz who finished with six points and five assists.
Through five games this season, Fritz is averaging almost six points per game with 28, totaling 14 goals and 14 assists.
Defensively, the Green Terror limited Montclair to just four goals on 37 shots while forcing 15 turnovers. Graduate student
Brighton Lorber led the way with 15 saves, including nine in the first half as McDaniel led 5-1.
Lorber now has 440 saves in 38 career games, moving him into ninth on the school's all-time list past Jakob Katzen who totaled 433 from 2017-20.
As a team, the Green Terror have allowed four goals or less in each of their last three games. The team currently leads the Centennial Conference in goals-against average at 6.60.
McDaniel looks for its first five game win streak since 2012 on Wednesday when it heads to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Chatham. Face-off is set for 4 p.m.
