Shoremen Pull Away From McDaniel in Conference Opener

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Washington College scored nine of the game's final 10 goals en route to a 14-4 win over the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team in its Centennial Conference opener Saturday at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

Playing without three of their top six scorers, the Green Terror (6-3, 0-1 CC) got points from six different players as they trailed by just two after the first quarter, 5-3.

However, the Shoremen (7-2, 1-0 CC) outscored McDaniel 7-1 in the second quarter to push their lead to eight, 12-4 at halftime. WAC held a 19-4 advantage in shots in the quarter while Cole Corrigan made three of his four saves.

Senior Dylan Vitale posted his first multi-goal game of the season, scoring McDaniel's first and last goals of the game. Senior Nick DeLoriers finished with two assists, including his team-leading 18th of the season on Vitale's man-up tally with 1:03 remaining in the third quarter.

A total of six different Green Terror found the scoring column, including junior AJ Johnson and senior John Lux who netted one goal each. Meanwhile, junior Nick Wingo and senior Zach Micklos each recorded their fifth assists of the season.

Graduate student Brighton Lorber made 14 saves, including 10 over the second and third quarters as the Shoremen totaled eight goals on 31 shots. He has posted double digits in saves in six of his nine starts this season.

McDaniel returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts No. 8 Gettysburg at Gill Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
