WESTMINSTER, Md. - Nine different players scored as the McDaniel College women's basketball team held Bryn Mawr to just nine made field goals en route to a 73-29 victory Saturday on Rebecca L. Martin Court.
The Green Terror (7-14, 5-11 CC) snapped its nine-game skid by allowing just 29 points, their fewest since Nov. 20, 2021 when they defeated the Owls, 77-29.
Senior
Mallory Conroy scored a season-high 16 points for the second-straight game and third time this year. She also added seven rebounds and three blocked shots while freshman
Elaina Beckett had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Graduate student
Meggie Burgess totaled her first double double this season and fifth of her career with 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Prior to Saturday, her last double double came in a 68-44 victory at Bryn Mawr on Feb. 5, 2022 when she had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Freshman
Emily Lockard also added a career-high eight points.
With the game tied at 4-4 early in the first quarter, the Green Terror scored 18 consecutive points, holding the Owls (3-15, 0-13 CC) scoreless for over seven minutes before Aliya Stubenbord scored with five seconds remaining to cut their deficit to 16 after one, 22-6.
Conroy totaled six points and four rebounds in the first quarter while Burgess added five points and four rebounds.
Playing in just her second game this season since returning from injury, freshman
Lily Hines scored five of the team's 13 second-quarter points as the McDaniel led 35-14 at halftime.
Freshman
Jordan McLean became the ninth different Green Terror to score when she hit a fast break jumper with 35 seconds left in the third quarter.
In having nine different scorers, McDaniel racked up a season-high 23 assists on 30 made field goals, one more than the team's previous season high when it had 22 assists on 31 field goals in an 81-41 win over Goucher at home on Dec. 10.
A total of 11 players had at least one assist for the Green Terror, led by three each from Beckett, graduate student
Julia Ryan, senior
Josey Klingenberg and sophomore
Jessica Weinoldt.
McDaniel also grabbed a season-high 64 rebounds with all 12 players grabbing at least two.
The Green Terror travel to Washington College on Tuesday to take on the Shorewomen. Game time is at 6 p.m.
