ALLENTOWN, Pa. - McDaniel College wrestling freshman Andre Allen posted three wins and finished fourth at 149 pounds to lead the Green Terror at the 2023 Mideast Futures Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg Sunday.

Allen was one of seven competitors for McDaniel and won three of his first four matches before falling by just one point in the third-place match against Alvernia's Brandon Flores, 7-6. He recorded his fifth fall of the season with a second-period pin against Spencer Hughes of Wilkes in the quarterfinals and earned his second major decision in the consolation semifinals, 10-1 over Muhlenberg's Trey Miletics.

Allen, who has wrestled in three weight classes this season, improved to 7-5 at 149 pounds, including 6-4 in tournament matches.

Sophomore Austin Stewart advanced to the semifinals at heavyweight after back-to-back pins in the first two rounds, including a 43-second fall over Gettysburg's Maximillion Ferguson. After falling to Chris Stavrou of TCNJ in the semifinals, he was edged in sudden victory by Gettysburg's Simon Taylor in the consolation semifinals.

Stewart improved to 5-6 in tournament matches this season. Three of his five wins have come by fall.

Freshman Brock Barberi returned to action for the first time since the Blue Jay Classic on Dec. 3. In his first event at 165 pounds, he posted a 2-2 record with both of his win coming by fall against Wilkes. He earned the first two falls of his career, both of which came in the first period, including the first of his career just 1:59 over Devin Doty.

McDaniel will be in action next weekend at the NCAA Mideast Region Championships at Ithaca College Feb. 24-25.
