GETTYSBURG, Pa. - McDaniel College women's basketball graduate student
Meggie Burgess totaled 13 points and six rebounds as the Green Terror fell to Gettysburg Wednesday at Bream Gymnasium, 69-46.
McDaniel (8-16, 6-13 CC) trailed by five at halftime before the Bullets scored 28 third-quarter points to take a 54-36 lead after three.
Gettysburg, who was ranked at No. 4 in the NCAA Division III Region V rankings on Wednesday, were 10-of-17 from the floor in the third quarter while out-rebounding the Green Terror, 13-5, with 10 those boards coming on the defensive end. Emily Volante scored 13 of her game-high 18 points in the quarter for the Bullets while adding two assists.
Burgess scored in double figures for the eighth time this season and led the team in scoring for the fifth time. She totaled nine points and four rebounds in the second half.
Burgess scored four of McDaniel's first eight points as they took an 8-4 lead with 4:55 remaining in the first quarter. The two teams were tied at 11-11 after one and 13-13 early in the second before an 8-0 Gettysburg run stretched its lead to 21-13 with 4:00 remaining.
Senior
Mallory Conroy finished with nine points and six rebounds while senior
Josey Klingenberg totaled six points, five assists and two steals. Freshman
Elaina Beckett had eight points and five rebounds.
The Green Terror conclude their season on Saturday when they host Franklin & Marshall on Senior Day. Tip-off from Rebecca L. Martin Court is at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will honor its two seniors in Conroy and Klingenberg in a ceremony beginning at 12:55 p.m.
