WESTMINSTER, Md. - Led by seniors
Mallory Conroy and
Josey Klingenberg, the McDaniel College women's basketball team pulled away from Franklin & Marshall over the final three quarters en route to a 74-51 victory on Senior Day.
The Green Terror (9-16, 7-13 CC) concluded its season with wins in three of their final five games, including two out of three at home.
Conroy finished with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting while adding six rebounds. Ranked in the top-20 in the Centennial Conference in both scoring and rebounding this season, she played in 74 of the team's 75 games over the last four seasons with 72 starts.
Klingenberg totaled four points, six rebounds and a career-high 13 assists, her fourth career game with at least 10. The Centennial Conference leader in assists each of the last two seasons, she finished her career with 306 assists, becoming just the fourth player in program history to reach 300.
The Diplomats (9-16, 6-14 CC) led by one after one, 15-14, before McDaniel outscored them 16-8 in the second to take a 30-23 halftime lead. Freshman
Elaina Beckett scored 10 of her team-high 17 points in a first half that featured two ties and seven lead changes.
Led by 12 points from Conroy and 10 assists from Klingenberg, there were no ties or lead changes in the second half as the Green Terror outscored the visitors, 44-28. McDaniel shot 66.7 percent, going 18-of-27 from the floor, while holding F&M to just 7-of-24 shooting.
In their final game as a Green Terror, graduate student
Meggie Burgess had 12 points and six rebounds while graduate student
Julia Ryan totaled nine points, four rebounds and a career-high six assists.
Sophomore
Liliana Overcash also added nine points while freshman
Justeen Cooley tied her career high with six points.
McDaniel scored 23 points off 14 Diplomat turnovers, 20 points in the paint and 29 points off the bench. The team also led for 30 of the game's 40 minutes.
