Sujeta, Contee Highlight 78-51 Win Over Penn State Berks

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College men's basketball senior Chuck Contee and sophomore Jonas Sujeta combined for 46 points in a 78-51 victory over Penn State Berks Friday night inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (4-4) posted their third win in four home games this season, tying their season high in points which included a season-high 49 in the first half as they shot 60.6 percent from the floor, going 20-for-33.

Sujeta finished with a career-high 29 points, 19 of which came in the first half, while Contee flirted with a triple double, totaling 17 points, 10 rebounds and six rebounds. He totaled 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in the first half as McDaniel led 49-26 at the half, scoring 28 points in the paint and 19 off 11 Nittany Lion turnovers.

The Green Terror led by as many as 23 in the opening half, 43-20, following a three-pointer by Sujeta with 4:05 remaining. Contee and Sujeta combined to shoot 66.7 percent from the floor, going 12-for-18.

Graduate student Brendan Kade, who was third player to score in double figures for McDaniel, totaled seven of his season-high 11 points in the first half.

Penn State Berks (2-9) rallied to start the second half, outscoring the Green Terror 22-10 over the first 11 minutes to cut its deficit to 10 with 8:42 to play.

However, McDaniel responded by allowing just one basket with 42 seconds remaining as it finished the game on a 19-2 run to post its largest margin of victory since a 72-42 win at Christendom on Jan. 23, 2023.

Junior Lorin Hall finished with three points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals while senior Jeong Hwang tied a season high with seven points.

The Green Terror will take a break for finals and the Christmas holiday before returning to action in the Cyclone Holiday Classic against host Centenary on Friday, Dec. 29. Tip-off from the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center in Hackettstown, N.J. is at 3 p.m.
