Second Double-Digit Comeback Leads McDaniel Past Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - For the second time this season, the McDaniel College women's basketball team rallied from a double-digit deficit as the Green Terror posted a 49-43 victory over Haverford Thursday night at Gooding Arena.

McDaniel (5-2, 1-2 CC) snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Fords and picked up its first road win in the series since Feb. 13, 2016.

The Green Terror trailed by 16 points with 2:39 remaining in the third quarter before outscoring the hosts 28-6 the rest of the way to pick up their first Centennial Conference win of the season.

Earlier this season on Nov. 15, McDaniel trailed York (Pa.) by 15 points with 6:45 left in the third before outscoring the visitors 41-22 to post its first win over the Spartans since Nov. 13, 2018.

Junior Lil Overcash led the Green Terror with 11 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals, scoring all 11 of her points in the fourth quarter as they outscored Haverford, 23-6. The team shot 54.5 percent from the floor while scoring 10 points off 10 Ford turnovers. Overcash was 3-of-3 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Elaina Beckett just missed her third double double of the season with 10 points and eight rebounds while freshman Teya McConnaha added seven points and seven rebounds.

After going 11-for-41 from the floor through the first three quarters, McDaniel went 6-of-11 in the fourth quarter while adding two three-pointers while adding nine free throws.

Freshman Raegan Lenz had six points, four rebounds and two blocks while junior Jessica Weinoldt, a two-sport athlete who was named a Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday, totaled six points, two rebounds and two assists.

The Green Terror return home for the fifth time in eight games this season on Saturday as they welcome Ursinus to Rebecca L. Martin Court for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
