DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - Highlighted by a first-round 291, the McDaniel College men's golf team registered its fourth top-5 finish in four events this fall at the West Pines Collegiate hosted by Ogelthorpe at West Pines Golf Course.
The Green Terror placed fourth with a two-day total of 591, trailing only the host Stormy Petrels (561), Babson (584) and Hamilton (586). Ogelthorpe was ranked at No. 7 in the Golf Coaches Association of America Division III Preseason Poll while Babson came in at No. 23.
The event featured three nationally-ranked teams and another five, including McDaniel, who were receiving votes in the national poll. The Green Terror placed ahead of five of those teams, including No. 19 LeTourneau as well as LaGrange, Kenyon, Transylvania, and Denison.
Junior
Hogan Schulze led the team with a sixth-place finish, his third top-10 finish in four events this fall. Led by a three-under par 68 in the opening round, he totaled a 141, his second-best 36-hole total this fall. He totaled seven pars, six birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 507-yard 17th hole on Monday before posting 16 pars on Tuesday.

Matt Messenger and sophomore
Charlie Dolan finished in a tie for 27th as each carded a seven-over par 149. Sophomore
Ethan Crabb improved six spots in the standings from the first round, finishing 36th with a 152 after carding a 76 in both rounds.
McDaniel returns to action this weekend in the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic hosted by Gettysburg Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 7-8.
