LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophie Carroll and Jessica Miller scored two goals apiece as No. 22 Franklin & Marshall posted a 5-0 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team Wednesday at Tylus Field.
The Diplomats limited the Green Terror (2-14, 0-9 CC) to two shots and two penalty corners.
Amelia McCarthy started the scoring for Franklin & Marshall less than seven minutes into the game as she found the back of the cage off an assist from Keira Boensch. Carroll then added the first of her two tallies with 1:04 remaining in the first quarter on the first of three assists by Darby Klopp.
Klopp found Miller for her first goal midway through the second as the Diplomats (10-6, 8-1 CC) led 3-0 at halftime.
Freshman
Lora Scarangello, who faced 13 shots, was credited with two saves in the first 30 minutes.
Caroll and Miller each scored their second goal of the game just 28 seconds apart in the third quarter to provide the final margin. McCarthy and Klopp had one assist each.
Franklin & Marshall totaled a 20-2 advantage in shots and a 5-2 margin in corners.
Scarangello finished with five saves, including three in the third quarter. Junior
Morgan Collins recorded both McDaniel shots. She now leads the team with 22 this season.
The Green Terror conclude the 2023 season on the road at Bryn Mawr on Saturday looking for their first win against the Owls at Applebee Field since Oct. 7, 2017.
